Abstract
On July 7, 2010, OpTier (www.optier.com) announced a reseller part-
nership with Amdocs (www.amdocs.com), a leading provider of soft-
ware and services for Tier 1 and 2 telecommunications carriers. OpTier
specializes in Business Transaction Management (OpTier BTM™),
delivering proactive, real-time management of complex, heterogeneous
transactions across back-office, data center, and end-user environments.
Amdocs delivers Operational Support Systems (OSS) and Business
Support Systems (BSS) to the telecom market, and will be reselling
OpTier BTM to enable customers to better manage these business-criti-
cal services.
OpTier Takes On Telecom OSS/BSS
Transactions with Portal Monitoring
Capabilities and Amdocs Partnership
Amdocs delivers Operational
Support Systems (OSS) and
Business Support Systems (BSS)
to the telecom market, and will be
reselling OpTier BTM to enable
customers to better manage
these business-critical services.
This is a significant partnership for OpTier for multiple reasons. It positions the company to become a
bigger player in the vast and likely lucrative telecommunications market. It opens up more opportuni-
ties in the Asia Pacific geography, an established market for Amdocs but an emerging one for OpTier.
It adds credibility to OpTier’s BTM messaging and to the strength of OpTier solutions, since telecom
Information Technology (IT) environments are among the most complex in any of today’s industry
verticals. Finally, it positions OpTier with almost immediate revenue growth, as illustrated by the fact
that the first significant deal stemming from the partnership has already been closed.
ENTERPRISE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATES® (EMA™) analysts see this partnership as symbi-
otic for both OpTier and Amdocs, and one with significant upside for near- and mid-term revenue
potential.
Company Information and Specifics of the
Announcement
OpTier, Inc., headquartered in New York, N.Y., is best known for its flagship CoreFirst® solution.
CoreFirst has been widely adopted across multiple industries, particularly within financial services and
insurance firms. Companies leverage the solution to manage revenue-critical, high-throughput transac-
tion environments. OpTier also has significant penetration in government, as well as the healthcare,
retail, and manufacturing industries. The enhanced telecom-specific capabilities recently delivered in the
new OpTier for Telecommunications package strengthen its value proposition for that market as well.
CoreFirst’s success is rooted in its ability to track very complex transactions across diverse, dynamic,
and heterogeneous infrastructure. In addition, it can adjust and optimize computing jobs and resources
in real time. OpTier Experience Manager, introduced in October of 2009 as an addition to the BTM
Suite, “closes the loop” between data center and end-user monitoring. This product adds real-time
visibility into application availability, performance, and end-user behavior. The combined solutions
are distinctive in that they deliver deeply integrated, broad and deep transaction visibility in a highly
automated fashion and in real time. They also require significantly less manual administration overhead
than most competing solutions.
