Abstract:
IBM has announced strategic initiatives in China aimed at preparing Chinese workers to be able to leverage Big Data and Analytics (BD&A). Ultimately, these moves should also significantly strengthen IBM’s competitive position in China.

In July 2014 IBM announced that it is undertaking a major program to encourage the development of big data and analytics talent in China. The announcement has two major components.
The first consists of collaboration with universities in China. This is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education. Under this agreement, IBM will donate U.S. $100 million worth of software and other resources to 100 universities with the intention of promoting the development of data scientists.

The second is an agreement with kaikeba.com--a Uniquedu Corporation brand--to develop and provide free online courses related to BD&A.
