Abstract: On July 27th, 2010, OpTier introduced its Business Events Module based on an OEM of Sybase’s Aleri for Complex Event Processing (CEP). The new module is available as an optional extension of OpTier’s core portfolio for Business Transaction Management (BTM), including CoreFirst and Experience Manager, and is already fully integrated into CoreFirst’s broader capabilities for servicecentric transaction monitoring, dependency mapping, business impact analysis, and automation. OpTier has a growing number of customers in mid-tier and larger enterprises across a wide range of verticals. CoreFirst and Experience Manager have delivered very strong value for customers seeking to monitor complex applications – including those where interdependencies across applications and infrastructure require ongoing, dynamic insights.
The new Business Events Module, which can process hundreds of thousands of events per second, should add considerably to OpTier’s capabilities over time by providing insights into a wide variety of business outcomes associated with the delivery of IT applications. These outcomes can be monitored for impacts related to application performance or, conversely, informed upon through CEP analytics even when the problem set is independent of application performance. For instance, a delay in processing a parcel in a warehouse may alert a supervisor that the slowdown is likely the result of a staffing issue, just as easily as it might inform on poor server performance. |
