January 27th Webinar will provide insight into why NetFlow has become a must-have for Network Management in 2011

BOULDER, Colo., January 25, 2011 – Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), a leading IT and data management research and consulting firm, today announced it will host a free Webinar on Network Management entitled “Why NetFlow has become a Must-Have for Network Management in 2011.”

Today, network managers are faced with more dynamic and convoluted environments than ever before.  End points are going mobile, as are servers with the advent of server virtualization and cloud.  Convergence of voice and video onto traditional data networks demands close attention is paid to network efficiency to assure quality and network health.  Under these circumstances, clear and distinct visibility into network performance has never been more important, and leveraging the power of flow monitoring data is critical.

“Enterprises and service providers alike face a continuing challenge in establishing and maintaining clear visibility into who and what is driving the use of their infrastructures.  Without such visibility, it’s impossible to achieve and assure either control or quality,” said Jim Frey, Research Director at EMA.

NetFlow – historically the most commonly available form of flow data – has undergone recent technology enhancements that has enriched its ability to deliver the definitive service and application performance visibility network managers need.  “In this Webinar, we’ll look at why application-aware network performance data is the key to the puzzle, and why the latest improvements in NetFlow technologies promise to meet that need to a degree never before possible,” said Frey.

“Flow-based monitoring and analysis are essential tools for network performance management and troubleshooting,” stated Mike Miracle, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer for SevOne. “We continue to work closely with Cisco to maximize the value of Flexible NetFlow for application delivery, including latency, jitter, and packet loss reporting for MediaNet applications. This enables SevOne to provide more application awareness to our leading network performance management solution.”

During this one-hour Webinar, EMA Research Director Jim Frey, Cisco Product Manager Jean-Charles Griviaud, and SevOne Sr. Director of Product Management Pete Cruz will:

*Share research findings on network management in dynamic, virtualized, and converged environments
*Provide real-world examples of how flow data and NetFlow in particular are providing the necessary visibility to keep pace, in particular with Cisco Medianet environments
*Review cutting-edge management technology for gathering and leveraging NetFlow
