Latest EMA Radar Report™ Examines Seven Industry-Leading Application Discovery and Dependency Mapping (ADDM) Products for Enterprises
BOULDER, Colo., Dec. 6, 2010 – Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), a leading IT and data management research and consulting firm, today announced the release of its newest EMA Radar Report™ titled, “EMA Radar™ for Application Discovery and Dependency Mapping (ADDM): Q4 2010.” Created to assist IT professionals in selecting the right ADDM products, EMA has identified the leading vendors in this space. Selections were based on key criteria jointly defined by EMA research director, application management, Julie Craig, and EMA vice president Dennis Drogseth.
The results of this cross-functional study identify key strengths and weaknesses and highlight the characteristics of each vendor’s solution. Results are summarized in a detailed market map and Radar Chart – which includes a composite score for each vendor – making it simple to see which key functionality each vendor supports and how they compare.
“This Radar Report highlights a variety of products and capabilities and gives IT professionals a starting point from which to evaluate solutions that can significantly improve a company’s application support capabilities," says Craig.
The following criteria were the five major factors used to evaluate ADDM solutions:
1. Discovery Technologies and Breadth of Discovery: Overall levels of automation supporting discovery and service modeling
2. Integration/Interoperability: Levels of integration and interoperability within the vendor portfolio and with third party products
3. Asset and Configuration Management Support: Support for information sharing as part of asset management and configuration management data stores
4. Service Modeling and Analytics: Breadth and timeliness of service model creation and breadth of analytics linking service models to real-time and predictive application and business impact analytics
5. Levels of Automation and Ease of Use: Automation of impact analysis, heuristics, and administrative tasks.
The seven vendors ranked are: ASG, HP, IBM, ManageEngine, OpTier, ServiceNow and VMware. Top honors awarded included ASG for “Best Vision and Design, “OpTier for “Best Real-Time, Transaction-Centric Service Model,” and HP, IBM, and VMware were all recognized as “Value Leader.”
“The ADDM market is actively evolving to support multiple use cases, and the EMA Radar research suggests this,” said Drogseth. “These findings also help to underscore the true value of the EMA Radars, which provide more granular insight into design and cost advantages than most other industry equivalents.”
