Provisioning is a function that has traditionally been conducted in the service provider world. There is an increasing indication that such functionality may also be required in the enterprise. This EMA survey study, designed to explore in a limited way whether or not this is true, shows strong indications that provisioning is starting to resonate with enterprise IT personnel. Indications are that the provisioning model will be somewhat different for enterprises than service providers; however, there also seems to be a great deal of agreement between service provider and enterprise respondents on many of the functional areas and on the basic definition of provisioning.
